Heaven

Todd Burpo relates the true story of his son’s apparent experience of the afterlife in “heaven is for Real.”

On Tuesday, August 26th, the East Hampton Public Library will be hosting a Movie Night open to all ages.

The featured movie, Heaven is for Real (rated PG), is the story of young Colin Burpo’s visions of an afterlife during an emergency appendectomy.  Said to be a true story, the movie is based on a bestselling book written by Todd Burpo, Colin’s father, after the child awoke from surgery with an amazing story.

The story features Colin’s matter-of-fact and childlike take on what he says he experienced during his surgery, as retold by his father.  Colin’s piquing descriptions, such as “nobody is old and nobody wears glasses,” have appealed to the curiosity of many.

A discussion following the showing of Heaven is for Real will be moderated by library staff member Phil Carr.
