Boat Capsizes in Lake Pocotopaug

According to NBC Connecticut, a small boat capsized earlier this afternoon

NBC reports that the craft, identified as a catamaran or small sailboat, flipped over near Lake Drive in East Hampton with two people on board.

The site reports that both the town’s fire department as well as the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection arrived on the scene to help the two passengers from the lake and recover the overturned vessel.  No injuries were reported.

UPDATE: According to Dwayne Gardner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, two juveniles were on a catamaran on the lake when it overturned.  “They were in the process of righting it,” said Gardner. “The local fire department saw them out on the water and didn’t think it was safe considering the weather conditions today.”   The fire department retrieved the youths and their vessel.  Gardner confirmed that there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
