East Hampton Police wants drivers to know that some roads near Lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton, CT will be closed and there may be traffic delays on other roads during the Benny’s Run Race on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The race begins at 10 a.m. and police anticipate some traffic delays, particularly in the area of North Main Street.
About 200 runners/walkers are expected to join the event.
Police say traffic delays should end by about 11 a.m.
Other roads in East Hampton, CT that will experience “intermittent delays” associated with the Benny’s Run/Walk are:
Spellman Point Road
North Main ST

About the race
Runners/walkers will gather at East Hampton High School at 15 North Maple St.
Benny’s 5K Run welcomes all runners, walkers, and volunteers of all ages.
Benjamin J. Neiweem, a graduate of EHHS, passed away in August 2013 at the age of 24. As an avid runner and outdoorsman, his family and friends want to celebrate his life, and support our community, through this run and fundraiser.
All proceeds raised will go directly to the BENJAMIN J. NEIWEEM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
If you would like to join the race, please arrive (and park) at East Hampton High School between 8 and 9 a.m. and register, if you have not already done so, and pick up a numbered bib.
Runners/Walkers will be shuttled to the start line on Spellman Point Road 9:15 – 9:30 a.m. The run finishes at the High School. – You must take the shuttle to the start line.
