The Yankee Pole Cat Insulator Club will hold its annual fall show from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 68 Long Crossing Road in East Hampton, CT on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Glass insulators were first produced in the 1850s for use with telegraph lines. As technology developed, insulators were needed for telephone lines, electric power lines and other applications.
In the mid-1960s, many Americans began collecting these antique glass insulators. Today, there thousands of collectors who combine a love of design with an interest in science, technology and history.
The Yankee Pole Cat Insulator Club (YPCIC), founded in 1971, draws its members from New England and bordering states and has approximately 60 active members.
Today’s show will include such items as: insulators; vintage bottles, jars and flasks; lightning rod equipment; telephone and telegraph collectibles; railroad advertising and paper ephemera and small antiques.
The Yankee Pole Cat Insulator Club also sponsors an annual spring show on the last Sunday in March in Enfield, CT and hosts two cookout/swap meets in the summer at various locations in New England.
A club newsletter is published around four times a year. Currently, there are no annual dues.
