Melissa Ziobron, Republican candidate for State Representative for the 34th House District, has announced she is submitting the necessary paperwork to become qualified for funding under the Connecticut Citizens Election Program (CEP).
Under the revised boundaries set by the Legislature, the 34th District will include East Hampton, East Haddam and part of Colchester.
Campaign Chair David Balthazar said the official CEP paperwork would be delivered to the State Election Enforcement Commission this week and Ziobron expects to be officially qualified shortly.
To qualify for CEP funding, candidates for State Representative are required to raise $5,000 and 150 of those contributors must reside in the district they are campaigning in.
“I am grateful to all my supporters for the confidence they have shown in my campaign,” Ziobron said.
“I thank each and every one and especially my new Campaign Chairman, David Balthazar, for his hard work over the last two weeks in following-up on pledges… I am very proud of the broad-based support my campaign has attracted,” Ziobron said.
Balthazar said, “We are now gearing up for the next and most important phase of the campaign, which focuses on door knocking throughout the district to meet voters, listen to their concerns, and share [Ziobron’s] vision for the future, which includes reducing state spending, lowering taxes, and more emphasis on generating jobs and economic growth.”
“Voters can expect to see Melissa throughout the 34th District over the next few months, including the three-day Old Home Day celebration in East Hampton,” he added.
