Coming up, Capt Grizzy Scholarship Poker Run

The Friends of Lake Pocotopaug is assisting the 3rd Annual “Capt. Grizzy Scholarship Poker Run,” an 80-mile ride for motorcycles and hot rods, to benefit a scholarship fund.

The 2012 event will be held June 2.

The run is in remembrance of Dennis “Captain Grizzy” Griswold, who operated the Happiest Paddler Marina on Lake Pocotopaug, and was one of the founders of The Friends of Lake Pocotopaug which is a volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the water quality of the lake.

Griswold passed away on August 27, 2008.  In his memory, a scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving East Hampton student who is pursuing higher education with a concentration in environmental science.
