Elderly and Disabled Tax Assistance Seminar- Tuesday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Senior Center. Learn how you may be eligible for help with paying your taxes. Presented by the East Hampton Assesor’s Office. Sign up required. Stop in or call 860-267-4426.

Need a ride?

Transportation applications are available at the East Hampton Senior Center. Please allow two weeks for the application to be processed prior to scheduling a ride.

If you need a ride to the doctor, grocery shopping, hairdresser or barber, or activities at the senior center, please call the MAT Transit Authority in Middletown at 860-347-3313, 48 hours in advance, to reserve your seat. Cost per ride is $1.50.

Portland Tri-Town Plaza/Dollar Store – Every Tues 11:30 a.m.

East Hampton Stop and Shop – Every Friday 10 a.m.

Transportation is provided from Bellwood  Court and Chatham Acres.

CRT Congregate meals

Served Mon-Fri at noon. Sign-up is required through CRT: call Senior Center Café manager Ann Eaton for details. (Monthly menu’s available.)

Sensational Creations (previously known as Senior Creations) –  has moved to a different day, Mondays at 1 p.m. If you like to ‘craft,’ join us. Most items are made for our annual craft sale where all proceeds go back into the crafting program. All ideas are welcome!

Creative Sewing/Knitting Circle – Fridays at 11 a.m. Bring your sewing, knitting or crocheting and join in a relaxing time with others.

Exercise with Cindy- Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. with Cindy. (Fridays at 10 a.m. with the video.)  The instructor cost is $20 a month or $3 per class. New participants please contact the Senior Center to sign-up at 860-267-4426. We do invite you to attend a class or two (for a fee), to try it out.

Exercise/Gym room – All seniors are welcome, free of charge, to take advantage of our gym and its equipment. We have 2 treadmills and 2 stationary bikes.

Bears for Cancer Patients- Sojourn Bears are created by our Seniors for people receiving cancer treatments. The bear creation circle is on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Bingo – Every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.

Bell-tones (Hand-chimes & Singers) -Wednesdays, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. The group welcomes new participants. The only requirement is the love of music. Stop in and see what we are all about.

Tap Dancing – Thursdays, 11:15 a.m. to noon.

Setback (card game) -Thursdays, 12:45 – 3 p.m. Partners are established once we know how many players we have. Numbers are drawn.

Cribbage (card game)Fridays 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Bridge – (card game)Fridays at 12:30 p.m. Call the Senior Center for more information at 860-267-4426.

Upcoming Trips and Events

U.S. Coast Guard Band - Sunday, April 15. Leaving new parking lot at 12:30 pm. Concert is free. $3 transportation donation requested.

Blood Pressure Clinic - Monday, April 16 at 10:45 a.m.

Sensational Creations – Monday, April 16 from 1- 3 p.m. Create your own lug-your-mug (LYM). Sign up required to make sure there are enough supplies for all. Drop by in person to register or call 860-267-4426. $5 donation asked for supplies.

Haddam Senior Center - Friday, April 20, the Senior Van will leave at 9:30 a.m. Will be playing setback, having lunch and then enjoying entertainment with Tom Callahan. Sign up required for lunch (in person, or call 860-267-4426) and a $3 transportation donation is requested.

Sensational Creations - Monday, April 23, 1 – 3 p.m. Paint a Piggy… bank, that is. Sign up required to make sure there are enough supplies for all. Stop in or call 860-267-4426. A donation is asked if you plan on keeping your creation.

Movie Day – Tuesday, April 24 starting at 12:45 p.m.: “The Help” Please let us know if you plan on attending by signing up at the Senior Center.

Travel Meeting - Wednesday, April 25 at 1 p.m. Follow up with last month’s travel ideas. All are welcome to attend.

Norwich Culinary Lunch - Thursday, April 26, leaving new parking lot at 10 a.m. $11 for lunch. And a $3 transportation donation is requested. Sign up is required – stop in or call 860-267-4426. Payment is due at the time of sign up.

Spring Fling – Saturday, April 28 at the Senior Center, beginning at 1 p.m. Enjoy a day with the East Hampton High School Interact Club. It will be a day of song, dance and fun. Light refreshments will be offered. Please sign up in advance (860-267-4426) to make sure there will be enough for everyone.

April Birthday Bash - Monday, April 30 at noon. Please let the center know if you were born in the month of April (call 860-267-4426). Lunch, cake and a gift is on us! Sign up is required no later than Friday, April 27.
