John Paul “JP” Fournier, a 23-year-old male of 45 Forest St., East Hampton, CT was arrested by East Hampton Police on Friday February 3, 2012 and charged with sixth-degree larceny and disorderly conduct in relation to a purse-snatching incident.
Fournier’s arrest stems from an incident on Jan. 15, 2012 in which police say he stole the pocketbook of an 86-year-old woman as she was loading groceries into her car.
Police say the woman’s car was parked in a handicap parking spot in front of Stop and Shop and that the crime occurred in broad daylight, at about 1 p.m.
Fournier was in custody on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest, according to police.
He was arraigned at Superior Court in Middletown, CT and held on $25,000 bond for this incident, according to police.
Police say Fournier is also responsible for another crime “of the same nature” that occurred on Jan. 16, 2012 at the Stop and Shop in Glastonbury, CT. Glastonbury police hold an arrest warrant for Fournier in that case, according to East Hampton Police.
