With continuing power outages and extended recovery efforts likely to take longer than originally anticipated, CT Dept of Revenue Services Commissioner Sullivan announced taxpayers now have until Sept. 13, 2011 to file and pay certain business taxes due following Tropical Storm Irene.

Emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, will be provided at 75 percent federal funding.

Financial and technical assistance will be available for businesses, including agricultural businesses, damaged by Hurricane Irene.

Carl Currie, 78, of East Hampton, CT and Steven Prevost, 36, of East Hampton were involved in a car vs. motorcycle collision.

In his letter to the President, Malloy says the latest projection is that there is a “ 70 percent probability” Connecticut will take a “direct hit” from the hurricane and that “the impact of Irene on the state is anticipated to be the worst hurricane strike since 1938.”

State campgrounds to close at noon Saturday, Aug. 27, State Parks close at Sunset on Saturday. Both remain closed until further notice.
