Fires, crash keep emergency responders busy

Police and emergency responders were kept busy this weekend with a tragic accident and two fires.
At about 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, a police officer reported seeing smoke coming from the roof of Stickler Machine Co. at 4 North Main St.
The fire, which caused serious damage, was later determined to have been caused by an electric cord connected to a refrigerator, according to Fire Marshal Phil Visintainer.
No one was injured in the blaze.
And on Sunday, June 28, firefighters responded to another call reporting smoke at a vacant building at 6 West Lane, off Ola Avenue. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Also on Sunday, at about 8 p.m., police and emergency crews responded to crash at the intersection of North Main Street and Route 66 – where a motorcycle collided with a car.
Lifestar was called for one of the two victims of the accident, who were taken to area hospitals.
Details of the accident are not currently available.
