Old Home Days bicycle giveaway returns

East Hampton’s weekend-long Old Home Day Glorious Celebration marks its 31st year of consecutive Old Home Day celebrations this summer. Old Home Day 2009 takes place from Thursday, July 9 though Saturday, July 11.

The theme of this year’s Glorious Celebration is “favorite movies.”

One feature of the Glorious Celebration is the annual bicycle giveaway. The Old Home Days Association gives away bicycles and helmets to children age 12 and under.

Tickets for the giveaway are free and are available each night of Old Home Day weekend from committee members, who walk the grounds and hand out tickets to children.

The drawings for the bicycle giveaway are held at 8 p.m. on the Old Home Days Stage, which is sponsored via a $5,000 donation from Shaw’s Supermarket.

Multiple bike and helmet sets are given away each night.

Winners must be present to receive their prize.
